automotive marketing
  • Reach more customers: Internet provides the advantage to reach customers worldwide. Just having a website for a dealership is not enough, the other side of the globe people can know about you. But the area of the dealer cover generally for a city or for a particular area. The location based services helps to find the customers within the area. The pay per click, local search engine optimization, etc., will help you to target on specific geographic area people as well with specific demographics. It works more accurately than the direct campaigns to the customers.
  • Convenient for customers: It is difficult for a dealer to provide the information on 24/7 basis. When the dealership has some online presence through a website, the user can access the information relating to the products you offer and the information you want to tell. Fuel Pump – the Heart of Your Car Engine

The fuel pump is an essential part of the engine of a car. The vehicle needs energy source or fuel source to run. The fuel sources are electrical, liquid fuel and gas (like hydrogen) or any other. If the engine is based on a liquid fuel like gasoline (petrol) or diesel, it needs a way to get the fuel from fuel system to the carburetor. In most of the fuel delivery system, this method is fuel pump.

There are mainly three types of fuel pumps available at present. Two of them are used in automobiles, and the other one is not in use for automobiles. Each one has its own way of working qualities. Knowing about these will help to find the suitable one for your vehicle. In this article, we will discuss each briefly.
  • Mechanical fuel pumps: Mechanical fuel pumps are used on carburetor based engines. A mechanical fuel pump's operation depends on the turning of a cam shaft. As a lever, it influences, pulling on diaphragm. And the diaphragm operates valves and lets the fuel to come out of the tank into the fuel distribution system. Because of this, mechanical operation, these pumps are called mechanical fuel pumps. These can operate only at 4-6 psi. These are low pressure pumps typically mounted on engine. The efficiency of fuel delivery system with mechanical fuel pumps slows down because it pumps the fuel into carburetor.
  • Electric fuel pumps: Electric fuel pumps are used on the fuel injection system based engines. These can operate at 30-40 psi. There is no eccentric cam on a cam shaft in the electric fuel pumps to operate. These can produce higher pressure than the mechanical fuel pumps. Some fuel injection systems use two electric fuel pumps, one is mounted near or on the engine and another one is in the fuel tank.
Mechanical fuel pumps are slowly giving way to electric fuel pumps because of the latter's higher pressure pumping than mechanical pumps. Mechanical fuel pumps along with fuel injector help inject the fuel where it is needed. So, it becomes a more desirable alternative  to the mechanical fuel pump.
  • Turbo fuel pumps: These are the third type of fuel pumps and are rarely used. This is because turbo fuel pumps are large in size, and are used for high volume type of engines. These are used in the jet and rocket engines. Researches has reduced the manufacturing costs of these engines but still these are large in size, and do not fit for the car.
So your car might possess either mechanical fuel pump or electrical fuel pump. You can know it finding it whether it has a carburetor or an injector.

Techniques to Minimize Skidding on Snow

Snow and icy roads make the vehicle skid. Vehicles skidding on snow and icy roads is a common thing during winters, but it can be dangerous. In most of the cases black ice is the main cause fro skidding.

Black ice is very difficult to identify, especially in the night. Because of its transparent nature it looks like the road. When you are driving don't accelerate harshly, drive gently and don't change the gears suddenly because abrupt steering movements may cause skidding. Here are some techniques that will help you minimize skidding on the snow.
  • Brake: Apply the wheel brakes gently and slowly add pressure. The anti-lock braking system will automatically release the brakes and reapply to keep the wheel going round as it will help in not losing the steer control. But it wont work below 4 mph. If you do not have the anti-lock braking system, give the alternative movements to apply the brakes. When sliding down a hill release brake pedal when regaining steering control. Then again reapply the brakes.
  • Based on wheel driving: If your front wheels are skidding, keep off the foot on accelerate. Do not steer immediately. If the wheels are skidding sideways, automatically vehicle will slowdown and traction will return. When it come to your required direction, release clutch and accelerate. In case of back or rear wheels, do not accelerate. Steer the front wheels to the direction to where you want to go. In which direction they are sliding steer to that direction. Means if they are sliding to the left steer left, steer right when they sliding to the right. When the back wheels are sliding the other way, you have to steer right and left for a few times until the vehicle is under control.
  • Steering: While correcting the skid we can easily lose track of front wheels pointing direction. Professionals sometimes mark as 12 o'clock to know where the front wheels are pointing in skid correction. Some steering wheels have lettering or styling to know the front wheel direction clearly.
  • Correction of skid: Do not over correct the skid. The thumb rule for the beginners is keep the front wheel to where it wants to go. It is not good to do late in steering correction because it causes swing violently the other way. Gentle acceleration pull the car back onto your intention course.

Try to avoid traveling on the edges. If you drive on sideways your car may roll over. It is especially for tall 4X4 vehicles.

When the situation is out of control, emergency equipments like airbags, seat-belt will protect from serious injuries.

How often Wiper Blades need to be Changed

Windshield wipers are also called as wind screen wipers. They are used to remove water or steam or snow on the windscreen. There is legal requirement to have them. They are most important safety features of the vehicle.

Windshield wipers will help the driver to provide clear view of the road. Generally, most of the accidents can be caused by the improper view of the road. Using proper maintained wind shield can avoid the accidents. Generally, wiper blades are replaced when old ones get damaged. Many people have the doubt about when to change the wiper blades.

This can be determined by many things like usage, weather, maintenance, etc. Generally, one can replace them once in a year. But, people do not wait until the rubber part of the windscreen wiper is torn. A blurred vision and more vision problems arise because of damaged wipers while driving on snowy or icy roads through rain. Then it may lead to accidents. After one year, you should examine wipers frequently.

Sometimes, wipers damage before one year under some conditions. If there are streaking, chattering, worn rubber or damaged wiper frames then it is the time to change the wipers regardless of time of one year or six months.

Even in dry conditions or areas in which wipers are required, they should be changed once in a year. Wipers which are not used can dry out and crack, they cannot provide proper service.

There are blades or refills of wipers available in many stores. Generally, blades can easily be replaced on your own.

The minimum period for changing wipers is one year. You should change wiper blades after certain period of time regardless of their damage.

Because of the decrement in the sales of cars in US and European markets, most of the companies are focusing on India to increase their sales. Toyota has been the largest automobile maker in the world.

Japan's Toyota Motor Corp holds a share of 89% in the Toyota Kirloskar Motor(TKM) which is also the automaker. Now, this automaker is planning to change its market strategy by concentrating on the rural regions in India.

As of now, the TKM is mostly concentrating on the metros and urbans, but the company has now decided to market 40% of the cars in the rural markets of India. And the company is hoping to market 70,000 vehicles this year when compared to 55,000 vehicles of last year. The company foresees the market of India and hopes to achieve the target by concentrating on the rural areas.

Compared to other markets, Indian ratio of number of cars to people is very less. So, Toyota is increasing its sales by 10%. The company even plans to increase the sales of small cars in India from January 2011. The sales target of TKM etios is 150,000 car sales in 2011. Rear Wheel Drive Vs Front Wheel Drive

Now-a-days vehicles come in 3 drive configurations such as front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, and 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive. Only front wheels are driven by engine in case of front wheel drive, and only the back wheels of vehicle are driven by engine in case of rear-wheel drive.

To provide a compact package this front wheel drive is used. If the front wheels of the vehicle are driven by engine then very little space is necessary. If it is rear wheel drive configuration then there is a center tunnel or a higher chassis is not necessary. Rear-wheel drive vehicle's driveshaft has to reach from the engine to the rear wheels, it may cause the need for a tunnel or higher chassis. A good traction also can be provided by the front wheel drive configuration.

Front wheel drive vehicles are more preferred than rear-wheel drive because of having better traction due to weight distribution and they can be driven in snow, mud or wet roads. Any way, rear wheel drive vehicles are quickly accelerated than front wheel drive because of weight transference which takes place at the time of acceleration, it causes the front wheels to reduce the grip and torque and is adversely affected by this.

The feature of the front wheel drive vehicles is transverse engine, and rear wheel drive vehicles have a longitudinal engine. The size of the engine is restricted by the front wheel drive configuration, due to the style of the engine. Because of this most luxury cars and sports cars do not have rear wheel drive configuration.

It is important to consider the driving habits and requirements to determine which configuration will be best for you.

Future Electric Cars

Future electric cars will be contesting with a few other technologies for market share. Other future vehicles energized by hydrogen, biofuels, air, and nitrogen will compete with electric cars. Electric cars already have a proven achievement for success, even though a limited one.

The early electric cars only had limited range and consumed many hours to recharge. Future electric cars may overcome all of this problems. Tesla Motors, Zap and Phoenix Motorcars are advancing electric vehicles which remits some of these imperfections.

The electric sport utility trucks that are being tested by Phoenix Motorcars will just take only 10 minutes to recharge and can travel for nearly 200 miles per charge. Future electric cars have more chances to carry lithium-ion phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries which are now becoming more popular. The LiFePO4 batteries are rechargeable and powerful and are currently used in electric bikes and scooters. Electric cars have more chances of using this technology in the future.

Another technology expected to come in future electric cars is the use of supercapacitors and ultracapacitors for depositing and delivering electrical charge. Most of these batteries are presently used in association with hybrid car prototypes.

If the developers of future electric cars can manufacture vehicles with a range of 300 miles per charge which can be with charging time of 5 - 10 minutes and an elevated degree of safety in handling the vehicles, the market is wide open for them. In contrast to defective initial market research, customers have shown a willingness to stop their vehicles at the night and off-peak hours in order to save dollars consumed by the gasoline pumps.

Do Hybrid Cars Last Longer Than Standard Cars?

  • The engine: Hybrid cars run with two engines. Those are gas engine and electric engine. In hybrid car, electric engine will requires less work than the car engine. Standard car will run with only gas engine. If you use hybrid car properly the gas engine is used less and it will last longer then the standard car.
  • The brake system: The standard car contains normal brake pads with regular disc brake system. The hybrid car contains “regenerative brake system”. Due to this system, the engine will regain its electrical charge. If you use this brake system properly in the hybrid car then it will last longer than the standard car.
  • The fuel system: The hybrid car contains fuel system due to gas engine. The gas engine will work like an engine in the standard car. The gas engine will work less in the hybrid car.
  • The battery: All cars contain batteries. However, the battery design in hybrid cars is more efficient then the standard car battery design. Batteries are power centers for electric engine in the hybrid cars.

The above mentioned features will help the hybrid cars to last longer than the standard cars.
