All the automobile manufacturers will show the fuel efficiency ratings of their vehicles by comparing them with their competitors from October 2010, according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures.
The scheme has been announced by SIAM that they should keep voluntarily fuel efficiency labeling for their vehicles and they should implement it from 1st October, 2010. The thing is information on the comparative fuel efficiency of the vehicles is provided in different categories. According to requirements of individuals and lower fuel consumption, consumers purchase vehicles, so by this scheme they can make a right choice.
Earlier they were unwilling to tell about mileage figures, but now they need to show. According to officials of the SIAM, if the government is ready to accept the mandatory fuel efficiency standard, then the government is invited by SIAM to adopt the mandatory requirement.
Government will introduce fuel efficiency standard for auto manufacturers under the Energy Conservation Act by the Power Ministry.
