Write About Community or Preventive Dentistry?

Preventive dentistry is a branch of dentistry that deals with the preservation of healthy teeth and gums, dental caries and oral diseases. Period ontology/community and preventive dentistry are some of the names for this kind of dentistry.

The department of community dentistry runs educational programs which aim to provide free dental services to the people, provide facilities as well as create dental awareness in the community where facilities are not there.

In large communities of rural areas all across the country, the dentists who are trained in community management of dental health and mass education of dental hygiene will conduct surveys and research about the dental health of the people and educate them about the oral diseases.

Public health dentistry is one of the departments which provides dental health education to the people in community, with applied dental research and the administration of group dental care programs as well as the prevention and control of dental diseases of school going children.
It gives a broad knowledge and skills in program administration, research methods, the prevention and control of diseases and providing dental care services for both school children and people in the community.

Most of the periodontal diseases are preventable but information about all oral diseases are not known to people. So, preventive dentistry department will create awareness of these oral diseases among the people.
